Zimmerman Weekend

I'll start you off with the giggle.

I went to parent-teacher night this week and got to see Jeshua's classroom. On the left (for me) is a picture of his daily schedule. On the right is an assignment: Draw a picture of your favorite thing. The picture is Thomas the Tank Engine at a station, but he told Mrs. Brandle that his favorite thing is the Rec Center. (She had no idea what a rec center is!)

Sally loves the baby doll my mom and dad bought Darcy for Christmas. Darcy uses the stroller and all the baby accessories for her cat, and Sally loves the baby.

Darcy-lou has started using a new phrase.

Our neighbor was not happy about the paint we left on the sidewalk in front of his home the day we painted. He was not angry or rude to us, but he did speak to Yancy and me on separate occasions. He is a kind, elderly man who moves painfully, and he works hard to keep his home well. This afternoon we took bleach and a scrub brush to the paint and got a lot of it off. I did the bleach work, and Jesh and Darcy helped by making sure no one got hurt from stepping in the bleach.

"This way; this way, please," Jesh would say in his deep, in-character voice. "Single file. One at a time, please!"

Then the kids helped me scrub baking soda everywhere we had put down bleach.

Last and best of all, we washed it off.

Yes, that is my kids running through bleachy, baking soda mud.

At dinner tonight, we started playing this game where the kids were "buying" apples from me after they had eaten theirs. Here's a snippet.

  1. What a great opportunity to teach the kids to be responsible for any messes they create during activities! Hopefully it sticks with them as they grow :D
