IKEA 1

IKEA is an awesome place to go with kids.

Free kid food, free babysitting, free play space, free ferry ride, free air conditioning, plus $1 ice cream and cinnamon rolls. What more could I ask for?

This is Liam (a friend who is in town just for the summer), Aly and Jesh . Liam's mom, Erin, has been my adventure buddy this summer.

I suggested we throw rocks off the pier (behind IKEA) but there was so much sidewalk outside the fence that none of the kids could get their rocks in the water. They were really frustrated.

$1 cones!

Part of the reason this day was so great was that Erin and I had no agenda. If the kids wanted to spend 20 minutes running around the lawn chair display, no problem. Want to ride the moving walkway 50 times? Go for it.

Aly's mom usually picks her up at 4pm, but we completely lost track of time and were still at IKEA around 3:30pm. (It takes us about an hour and a half on the trains/buses to travel each way.) Luckily her mom was more than happy to let me keep Aly for another couple of hours so we could get free dinner, another round of free babysitting (comes in 30 min chunks), and ride the water taxi home.
