Summer Adventure: Gantry Park

Gantry Plaza State Park is in Long Island City, the part of Queens that is directly across the East River from Manhattan. It is beautiful (makes me miss the Kirkland waterfront) but housing is as expensive as in Manhattan. My friend who lives in a building across the street from the park we were at spends $4,000 a month in rent.

Lesson learned this summer: Rich people have nice parks.

Old railway tracks built into the landscaping. The kids are chuffing around the garden.

This is the only park we've found in Queens that has sand, but the sand is not part of the playground, which means I had to chase Darcy around all afternoon. Jesh rarely left his spot in the sand pit.

One of the perks of this day is we had many friends with us.

It was nice for me as well as the kids.
