Visiting Santa at Macy's

Going to Macy's Santaland with friends is becoming a tradition, so we skipped a day of preschool to go. (I didn't mention to Jesh that we were missing school and he never asked about it.)

Yancy rode the train with us, which made the trip much easier and much more fun. It was a pretty big sacrifice on his part because it made his commute longer, even though we were taking the same trains he takes.

We started our visit at Macy's with an attempt at a group picture.

Darcy and her nursery friends were at the front of our group when we got to the front of the line, so they were the first in to see Santa.

Macy's does an great job of making waiting in line exciting with their displays. Because of the poor weather and how early we got there, we didn't actually have to stand in line to see Santa, so we went back to the line after seeing Santa to go through at kid pace.

After we were done at Santaland, we went to the toy department to look around. Jesh started watching the model trains, and noticed that he could reach through part of the display to try to fix a train that derailed. While he was watching, the train repairman showed up, fixed the train, and gave Jesh a tutorial on driving them.

Jesh stood at that model train display for an hour. Darcy and I passed the time by playing with all the other toys.

Finally we went outside — in a down pour —to see the famous window displays. Again, the weather played in our favor, making it so much easier to see the windows.

We ended the long day with a rainy walk home...

... and a selfie in the lobby mirror.
